A Beginning (Mountain Home)

This short film aims to unite visions of distant landscapes. On one side, it presents the pastoral and folkloric spirit of Shimla, a town at the foot of the Himalayas in Himachal Pradesh (India), where forests are sacred and biodiversity is celebrated, portrayed by a talented local musician, Harul. On the other, it shows the harsh reality of Argentine geography, with the indiscriminate and uncontrolled burning of forests, depicted through Lucia’s lyrical journey in a self-portrait style.
Through this sensual piece, we aim to create a poetic bond that ignites our connection to the living Earth, reminding us that forests are vital ecosystems for life on this planet and must be protected. A Beginning (Mountain Home) is a call to dive into the ancestral mysticism that resides in every particle of the mighty forest.

Director Biography - Lucia Benamo

Nací en Buenos Aires el 17 de Mayo de 1991.

Soy Realizadora de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales. Desarrollo mi actividad principalmente en las áreas de producción y dirección para cine y plataformas vod.

Estudié cine mientras estudiaba danza, fruto de ese encuentro surge la Zona | Cuerpo Cámara Oscura, un proyecto que explora y estudia el vínculo entre la imagen y el cuerpo desde la perspectiva del movimiento.

Actualmente me encuentro desarrollando mi ópera prima "Lo inédito que brota" largometraje documental que aborda el tema de la participación y la voluntad desde la perspectiva de la danza. Éste proyecto cuenta con la dirección musical del compositor costaricense Glendon Ramirez, director de la banda Amarillo, Cyan y Magenta. Lo inéditoq que brota ha sido ganador del segmento Work in progress del Festival MuMA 2024.
