Director Statement

Motherhood" is a story of pain, resilience, and the silent tragedies endured by women trapped in society’s darkest corners. As a filmmaker, I was drawn to the emotional depth of a woman who, despite her circumstances, experiences a moment of profound connection with the life growing inside her—only to have it taken away due to the harsh realities of gender bias and exploitation.

This film is not just about a prostitute’s unwanted pregnancy; it’s about the universal conflict between hope and despair, between choice and coercion. It sheds light on the heartbreaking decisions many women are forced to make, questioning the value of life in a world that denies them agency.

Visually, Motherhood embraces a raw, realistic aesthetic, using dim lighting, claustrophobic spaces, and muted tones to immerse the audience in the protagonist’s isolation. The narrative unfolds with subtlety, focusing on intimate moments of longing, regret, and fleeting joy, rather than overt melodrama.

I believe cinema should challenge, provoke, and spark conversation. Motherhood is my attempt to highlight an issue often silenced—where even the possibility of love and nurturing is stolen from those who yearn for it the most. This film is dedicated to every woman who has had to make impossible choices in the face of an unforgiving world.
