Motherboard Fever
"Against the timeless backdrop of a coastal shore, an industrial robot performs its daily service in silence. It is a world of gears and glowing embers, until a spark of human connection awakens something unseen. Inspired by the story of 'The Ugly Duckling' and the innocence of a young girl, the robot begins to mimic life, seeking meaning beyond its code.
When it finds a clutch of abandoned duck eggs after a storm, the machine faces a choice: function or feeling? It chooses the latter, intentionally overheating its motherboard to provide the warmth needed for incubation. 'Motherboard Fever' is a silent, visual journey into the heart of a machine, proving that the spark of motherhood and sacrifice knows no biological bounds."

"'Motherboard Fever' is a visual poem that explores the boundaries of empathy in an increasingly mechanical world. My goal is to capture the 'soul' of an industrial machine—not through dialogue, but through the silent, rhythmic dance of its service and its unexpected awakening.
The film is set against the timeless backdrop of a misty coastal restaurant, where the salt of the sea meets the heat of the kitchen. Here, our protagonist—a rigid, one-meter-tall robot—finds a 'glitch' in its programming: a maternal instinct. By protecting a handful of duck eggs, it defies its primary function of service to embrace the higher function of sacrifice.
With over 25 years in independent cinema, I see this project as a culmination of my interest in poetic realism. It is a quiet rebellion against cold functionality, a reminder that warmth and motherhood can emerge even from the most unexpected of sources: the heart of a motherboard."
