Experiencing Interruptions?

Moscow literary

Moscow is a city where not only outstanding writers lived in different centuries, but also the heroes of their works! On the pages of the great works of A.Pushkin, M.Bulgakov, L.Tolstoy, I.Turgenev and many others, you can find not only the mention of Moscow as the main place of action: many events from the books are associated with a specific place on the modern map!

For example, the prototype of the house where Tatiana Larina from Eugene Onegin came to see was the palace of Prince Nikolai Yusupov, who Alexander Pushkin himself once visited. The Oblonsky House, where "everything got mixed up" in the novel "War and Peace" by Leo Tolstoy, is the Apraksin–Buturlin estate in the very center of Moscow, whose history dates back to the XVII century. The estate of the Princes Dolgorukov on Povarskaya became the prototype of the Rostov house. "The gray house with white columns and a mezzanine" from the story "Mumu" – this is how the estate of the harsh lady is described – is a modern museum Ivan Turgenev, who keeps all the secrets of both the writer and his family, and the former apartment house on Prechistenka is called the Kalabukhov House – he is the one where the apartment of Professor Preobrazhensky from the story "The Heart of a Dog" by Mikhail Bulgakov was located.

Each of these places is unique in its own way, has a rich history and deserves our attention. Let's go there and find out how these places are connected with the lives of writers and why they became the chosen ones, having got on the pages of immortal books.

Director Biography -
