Director Biography - Keith Williams

Between 1982 and 1987, Keith Williams, a writer from Neath in South Wales, worked in London and Los Angeles on over fifty music videos, visualising songs for artists such as Olivia Newton-John, Elton John, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Bonnie Tyler, Tina Turner and directors including Taylor Hackford, Tobe Hooper, Russell Mulcahy and Ivan Reitman.

Prior to this, he sold original screenplays to producers David Puttnam and Don Boyd in London, whilst in Hollywood to Burt Lancaster, Walt Disney, and Silver Pictures at Warner Bros, as well as directing one of the first digital shorts for the American Film Institute starring Robert Downey Jr with music by Thomas Dolby.

During his twilight years, based back home in Wales, Keith wrote screenplays for shorts and feature films, worked as script consultant on other producers’ projects, directed music videos for local rock bands, and along with Michael Kennedy of Welsh Connections as host, presented his stage show When Music Videos Ruled the World at various venues around the country. He also recently completed his memoirs, The Boy Who Went to Hollywood, detailing the five years spent working there as the world’s first video conceptualist in the early days of that industry.

Keith sadly passed away on March 5th 2023, shortly after the completion of 'Morgue'.

Director Statement

"Ever since I was a kid I've loved horror. Every saturday afternoon I'd escape to a nearby city where I'd try to get into double-bill X certificate horror films underage. It was a great time for a fan like me as there was so much on offer those days - the Giallo slashers from Italy, EuroHorrors (usually dubbed), Gothic Hammer from the UK, as well as the widescreen Poe/Corman adaptations from American-International. Not just films either but an explosion of horror on TV, in books and magazines like Famous Monsters of Filmland and Castle of Frankenstein.

However, the time has now come for payback, and with making Morgue I was able to take the opportunity to thank that genre for firing my imagination for so many years."
