Moonlight Warrior

1976, Chongqing.
14 years old Dou, was in hospital, He falls in love with a pretty nurse, Jiahui.
Jiahui belongs to Gang, a mobster, who is brutal to her.
Dou is becoming Jiahui’s protector, her Moonlight Warrior, but before he comes to harm, Jiahui and Gang leave for Japan.
20 years pass, One day Jiahui returns, escaping Gang. Dou recalls his childhood dream.
When Gang follows his wife a youthful romance becomes a deadly contest.

Director Biography - Hong Ying

Hong Ying was born into a sailor's family in Chongqing on the Yangtze River in southwest
China. She is best known in the English-speaking world for her literature, her photography and
her gourmet cooking. Her representative works include her autobiography《Daughter of the
River》 and her novel《K: The Art of Love 》 (which won the Primo de Rome prize in 2005 in
Italy.,
Her six major novels have been translated into more than 30 languages and published in
Europe, America, Israel, Australia, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam.
Many of her works have been adapted into film and television. Her novel《Death in Shanghai
》 filmed as （ Lanxin Grand Theatre） (English title《 Saturday Fiction 》 by Director Lou Ye
and starring Actor Gong Li， was shortlisted in the main competition unit of the 76th Venice Film
Festival in 201 9.

Director Statement

This however is the first film which I have personally directed, although I have studied cinema for many years. I like telling stories, and very much enjoyed the opportunity this time to do so through a camera!
Moonlight Warrior was shortlisted in 2022 of The Goa International Film Festival in India , but the China Film Administration did not approve the film content review certificate at that time, so it gave up. now it got the certificate.
