Mollo - The Art Of Holding On
Mollo is an introspective story about Michelle, a climber who pursues a dream imagined during a psychiatric hospitalization—one that proves far more dangerous than expected. As she confronts the physical and emotional toll of her ambition, the film explores mental health, recovery, and what happens when the thing that once saved you nearly breaks you. Unexpectedly funny and deeply personal, Mollo is a reflection on the delicate balance between healing and harm, and the cost of chasing meaning in the mountains.

Thibaut Lampe is an award-winning outdoor sports photographer and emerging filmmaker whose work seamlessly bridges the worlds of wild landscapes and intimate, emotional storytelling. With a background in marketing, product design, and branding, Thibaut brings a strong narrative sensibility and creative direction to every frame—whether in a studio or clinging to a cliff face.
His visual style as a director is deeply rooted in his photography: composed, evocative, and always grounded in feeling. Over the past few years, Thibaut has transitioned from commercial work to documentary filmmaking, contributing to projects such as Clouds of Lea and The Window featuring olympian Seppe Smits. His photography has been recognized by Red Bull Illume, ND Awards, and the New York Photography Awards, and featured in Freeskier, Twin Magazine, and on billboard campaigns across Switzerland.
Often described as a “mountain goat with a camera,” Thibaut thrives in extreme environments, using his lens to translate raw human experience into powerful visual narratives. Mollo is his directorial debut, an intimate exploration of mental health and recovery, tracing one climber’s search for meaning in the mountains. It reflects Thibaut’s passion for stories where adventure and vulnerability meet.
Mollo is a raw and honest exploration of depression and the fragile path toward healing. Michelle’s dream gave her hope and the strength to push through dark times. While that dream served as a lifeline, Mollo also honors the courage it takes to let go of that dream and be proud of the progress made along the way.
Her story captures the messy and complex reality of mental health, including the setbacks, small victories, and unexpected moments of humor that remind us of our shared humanity. Directing this film was a journey into vulnerability, allowing me to tell Michelle’s story in a way that is raw, honest, and full of hope.
Mollo reflects resilience, the ups and downs of recovery, and the beauty found in discovering strength not only by holding on but also by letting go.
