As a Nepali fellow aspiring to be an artist in the USA, I knew I had to bring something unique and tasteful to firm my ground here. As a Bachelor’s novice, I have definitely struggled throughout to survive and achieve experience that I now possess after completing my Master’s. Yet, one gift that has always helped me to stand out from the crowd is my culture. Through cinema, I want to present the Nepali authenticity and style in such a compelling manner that the audience would feel refreshed, awakened after feeling saturated with the cinematic content they see everyday.
Growing up in the city of temples, Kathmandu, I also matured, experiencing various traditions as
well as learning many aspects of Hinduism. What even captivated me is the concept of
Moksha(liberation) and the idea of disregard towards materialistic dimension and venturing into
the spiritual mind.
Meanwhile, I also grew up with a heavy interest towards Cinema. Its qualities of expression and
entertainment invoked me in such a way that I too dreamed of and soon later worked to be a
filmmaker. I desired to make an enthralling cinematic piece that would charmingly engage the
audience, while taking them through diverse emotional rides. Likewise, I also like to employ and
mix various genres or its elements as I believe this would make a spiceful story which would
further employ those diverse emotions.
Eventually, I had an idea of mixing these two loves of mine and so I decided to make a movie
based on Hindu concept of moksha. I wanted to mix the concept with the contrasting element of
Family, and Business, which also deals with the psychological element of trauma. Moreover, as I
fancy driving the audience’s emotions, I wanted to use strong cinematic techniques such as plot
twists that would trick and confuse them yet make them feel something by the end of the movie.
