Moulded by his small central Nigerian hometown of Jos, Kenneth Gyang developed a strong love for writing stories inspired by reading the famous African Writers Series novels as a child. Accidentally stumbling on a film school close to him, Kenneth has studied writing and directing at the National Film Institute and Gaston Kabore’s IMAGINE in Burkina Faso.
His screenplays have been selected for major international events like Script/Doc Clinic of Berlinale Talent Campus in Germany, the American Film Showcase Fellowship at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, and Script Junction, a UK-Nigeria screenwriting partnership program at Edinburgh International Film Festival. His first feature film co-writing was the winner of Rotterdam International Film Festival’s Hubert Bals Fund.
In 2010 Kenneth was listed by the Nigerian youth culture magazine, Y!, as one of 50 people under the age of 35 that will change Nigeria.
Mojisola is a love letter to my home town and an homage to the pacesetting early Nollywood films I grew up watching.
