Director Biography - Kat Fitzgerald

Kat Fitzgerald grew up in Massachusetts. As a child, she loved to perform and was especially intrigued by videos. By 2011, Kat started recording and uploading videos on YouTube. At age 15, she moved from Massachusetts to Fairfax, VA to study at Fairfax Academy for Communications and the Arts. She was the first student to be in 3 concurrent classes. Kat took Musical Theatre/Actor's Studio, TV Production, and finally Music and Computer Technology. During all 3 years at the Academy, she served as an Academy Ambassador and received 3 awards for her work.

​After high school, she pursued a BPS in Songwriting and Producing Music at Berklee College of Music. During college, she continued to work on filmmaking by interning at Marshfield Community TV and taking multiple film classes at Berklee. In 2020, she edited “The New Normal” which won Madras Independent Film Festival. In 2021, Kat received an Emerson Community Scholarship from Emerson College. Kat began her MFA in Film and Media Art in 2021 at Emerson College. In April of 2022, Kat’s art was first showcased at Emerson Contemporary in the show “Complicit Transformations”. Her piece was focused on getting new eyes on cold cases. In March 2024, her film "the spontaneous activity of children" premiered at Salem Film Festival.
