Missing Moments

"Missing Moments" is a musical film characterized by the silence that inherently results from the deep understanding between two people. Their understanding of surviving the cruelty and insensitivity of human beings is reflected in their silences. The short film silently depicts the freedom of their bodies, seeing and moving through the world with newness. By tapping into this graceful yet powerful human persistence, this film is a venture into translating the journey of silence into a language of the freedom of bodies, in dialogue through thoughts and music, beyond conceptions of rules, regulations and societal borders.

Director Biography - Salvin Francis

Salvin Francis is an Indian-born artist, currently based in Kochi, India, with his career spanning from theatre-making journeys to film making.
He graduated from the School of Drama and Fine Arts, University of Calicut for Theatre Arts and Ambedkar University Delhi for Performance Studies, and has since been practicing and working with many renowned theatre practitioners and film makers across India.
Salvin's directorial debut “Eternal Return of the Same” (2017), was a prominent performance piece staged by the collaboration of Abhinaya Theatre and Research Center in Kerala.
He is also the co-founder and member of “Dialsky,” an alternative art collective that produces their art projects to be showcased on virtual platforms. His short video projects are a frequent contribution to their exhibitions.

Director Statement

We are the practitioners of music, literature, performance and visual art. When we came to know each other, we realized that we all have interest in thinking and exploring the life of togetherness. We felt that when we are together we stand for something. It leads us to think and materialize a film based on the idea of freedom. Freedom from situations created by the system of beliefs . Initially it was very difficult for us to find sufficient fund for the making of this film because of the content.As we processed the making of the film, intimate friends came forward to help us by providing whatever they can. We hope our decision to choose 'freedom 'as the content of the film helped us to depict frames that could suggest a life of collective beyond rules and regulations.
