Experiencing Interruptions?

Mirage

Mirage is an abstract music video that explores the balance between natural and man-made landscapes. Video-mirroring techniques reveal intimate moments shattered by shifts in direction, exposing the fluid relationship between harmony and dissonance. Driven by an atmospheric piece of original music by the artist, Mirage takes the viewer to a place both familiar and unfamiliar—an M.C. Escher drawing in constant motion.

Director Statement

Inspired since childhood by Ron Fricke’s time-lapse films (Chronos, Baraka), I seek ways to portray stories through visuals and soundtrack alone. Drawing on my career as an editor, I assemble and build visual stories in After Effects. During this process, I compose original music inspired by the in-progress shots. Colors and shapes translate into instrumentation and textures, and the resulting music often takes the visual arc in unexpected directions. My goal is to strike a compelling balance between sound and image—a reflection on the attraction of opposites.
