Midnight City

In the city of Tromsø at midnight, a group of friends meet for one last adventure together, before they all go their separate ways.
Throughout the night they laugh, they cry, and they reminisce about the past. Additionally, upon realizing that their final chapter is now coming to an end, they also contemplate on how the future might challenge their relationship with one another. Midnight City shines a light on the chaotic yet beautiful time of innocent youth, and the fears that arise when we feel the end of it approaching.

Director Biography - Elise Xiaqi Eriksen

Elise Xiaqi Eriksen is a multidisciplinary creative from Northern Norway. She’s been set on making a future for herself within the creative industry since the age of 13, and is currently working in Norway and England as a freelance film- and theatremaker. Ever since making her first short at 17, she’s been moving forward in the industry and engaging in multiple productions, both films of her own and films by other creatives.

Director Statement

Midnight City was made during my final months of high school, before me and my friends all parted ways to different corners of the world. It was a way for me to give my thanks and say my goodbyes to a very chaotic yet beautiful time of my life. In fact, the lovely faces you see on screen is the very friends that I had to say goodbye to a couple weeks after the shoot´s end.

In addition to this personal connection to the story, Midnight City also became an ambitious attempt to capture the general feeling of youth, and all that comes with it. Thank you for your time, and I hope you enjoy this little short of ours.
