Mike's interest in filmmaking lies in creating dark, artsy primarily low budget horror themed films.
As a film director he credits inspiration from such films as Rob Zombie's 31, the 1981 release, Southern Comfort, Falling Down and in particular the 1980's film release, Cruising, a lesser known dark film starring Al Pacino centered on the hardcore gay S&M scene.

CAN A PUBLIC FILM FESTIVAL DISCRIMINATE AND BAN PARTICIPATION OF THE ENTIRE POPULATION OF TWO U.S. STATES BASED ON THE FESTIVAL ORGANIZERS OPPOSITION TO THE STATES POLICIES?? A QUESTION FOR THE COURTS
On December 17, 2022, we filed for a mandatory injunction with the United States District Court for Massachusetts on behalf of the filmmakers of Florida & Texas seeking a judge to review whether the events policy of banning submissions from filmmakers in the states of Florida and Texas because of those state's political, racial & LGBT viewpoints was legal. The action was filed against Kevin Lynch, which is the real legal name of festival director Kay Lynch and SalemHorror, LLC.
We were not seeking damages, just an administrative ruling. Pursuant to, and citing the United States Civil Right Act and Massachusetts General Laws 272, section 92a supporting our grounds that such encroachment was illegal. In my case, I was being openly discriminated against because of my sexual orientation as I was residing in one of these two states and not a gay filmmaker.
I allege that we are considered a class and the law clearly defines that discrimination against a class based on sexual orientation is illegal and prohibited by law. This both at a state and federal level. This event was openly stating that they are banning the participation of over 50 Million Florida and Texas residents from the event including us, unless we were gay. The event organizer instead of being professional and seeing what a judge decided instead decided to attack us as opposed to communicating, understanding and accepting that the law and courts have the power to review policies pertaining to public events, this event is a public event not private. The event organizer, Kevin (Kay) Lynch publicly posts "as a queer survivor of rape, [our film] triggered a rage like I've never felt before". It is an awesome quote for us now, only problem is there was no way this person could have seen the film? It hadn't been released yet at the time and they even admitted it was never submitted. So, our film is so scary and badass that it can make the organizer of a horror festival state a comment like that without even seeing it!
This is not about the movie and the name of the movie has never been disclosed to the press or in any pleadings filed with the court. This is about right and wrong and punishing over 50 million residents in those two states in a way which violates federal and state law. Clearly people could do this if this were not a "public" event in a public "accommodation". We'll keep you updated on what the court rules on this, but just because somebody lives in Florida doesn't mean they support the "don't say gay" bill. If this organizer of this event would have bothered reading or returning one of our four emails we sent him over a two month period prior to this then they would have found out that this film was done by the same person that did a documentary film on the Florida governor's mishandling of the Covid pandemic, or pursued prior litigation on behalf of LGBT rights and assisted Dennis Peron in drafting California Proposition 215, this countries first medical marijuana laws drafted to benefit AIDS patients in his Castro community and the State of California, we all are on the same page, as lots of residents of Florida and Texas actually are. Florida has 886,000 LGBTQ residents. We assumed the organizer of this event would be professional and mature enough to understand that this was merely a questioning of law and not a personal attack on either him personally or the festival.
