Michael Klein is a writer, director and producer living and working in Cape Town.
His first stab at directing and producing came with his UCT graduate film, The Bullet, a minimalist suspense film that premiered at the International Student Film Festival in Hollywood, before going on to win ‘Best South African Short Film’ at the Cape Winelands Film Festival along with several other festival selections.
Moving into documentaries after graduating, Michael was the assistant producer on the short documentary, Orbis, which had it’s world premiere at Hot Docs in Toronto. The film artfully examines the cycle of poverty in Durban’s largest township, Umlazi.
After a short stint working production in the South African feature film industry, Michael now freelances as a producer and director of short form content.
