My Uncle Manolo

Manuel Díaz Caballero is 93 years old, he has served in the Malaga Local Police for more than 40 years, from 1954 to 1996. During this time he has patrolled the city of Malaga,. In plain clothes, in uniform, by car or on his motorcycle, his faithful companion with whom he went from Torremolinos to Malaga. The desire of his great-nephew Pablo José, to know the story of his great-uncle, and to have it recorded for posterity, is the driving force behind this short film, framed as a visit to the Local Police Museum in Malaga.

Director Biography - PJ Martínez

Pablo José Martínez Ruiz, known as PJ Martínez, is a director from Malaga with a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Malaga and a Master's in Cinematography and Visual Arts from School Training, a local film school, where he directed his first short film, My Uncle Manolo, a family portrait of his great-uncle's life as a local policeman. It has won awards at festivals in Colombia, India and the United States, as well as being selected for other festivals in Algeria, Guernsey, Brazil, Kazakhstan and Nigeria.

He works mainly as a location manager, having worked on music videos and short films of various kinds, and also as a film critic and editor for Historia del Cine.es.
