Nathan "Nate" Sellers is a visual artist and independent filmmaker known for his experimental shorts and horror-influenced dramas. His work has been featured at various genre festivals, including Telluride Horror Show, FilmQuest, Nightmares, and Boston Underground Film Festival. In 2022, his film The Watcher (2022) won "Best Short Film" at Flatland Film Festival, followed by "Best Horror Short" at GenreBlast in 2023.
In addition to his directorial work, Nate has made contributions as a producer, working on the folk-horror short The Thaw (2023), starring Toby Poser and Emily Bennett, and collaborating with award-winning animator Catya Plate on the stop-motion feature 'Alma.' In 2021, Nate founded the no-budget film collective, Lone Horse Films, where he acts as creative director. Methuselah (2024) is his latest film.
Spring 2024, I quietly worked on my latest project, 'Methuselah.' It wasn’t the film I had originally planned to release next, nor was it something already in development. I approached it more like a painting, where each day I arrived to create, adding to the film only when struck by an idea or moments of inspiration.
'Methuselah' is my most personal film to date, documenting a haunting childhood memory, which ultimately propelled me to examine our abrasive, sometimes cruel and violent, human nature from a different perspective—that of trees.
