Gunther von Hagens "Body World" - A Dokumentary
The documentary "Body Worlds" is based on an exclusive interview from 2002 that we conducted with Gunter von Hagens. The interview was about his intentions that led him to the invention of "Plastination" and the idea of the "Body Worlds" exhibitions. It was also about a metaphysical contemplation of transience.
In 2008, Gunther von Hagens contracted Parkinson's disease, which impaired his motor skills and speech center. I.e. such an interview with the complete authenticity of the inventor of Plastination will unfortunately no longer be possible.
On the basis of this exclusive interview, we then arranged the history of the "Body Worlds" exhibitions and the invention of "Plastination" in the context of reflections on the transience of existence into a comprehensive documentary, in which the viewers are informed about all the important elements in this context, but also have the opportunity to engage in a kind of self-reflection with their own lives, with their own transience.
The documentary "Body Worlds" is based on an exclusive interview from 2002, which we conducted with Gunter von Hagens about his intentions for the invention of "Plastination", the idea of the "Body Worlds" exhibitions and a reflection on being.

This project has been on my mind since 2002.
I wanted to revisit the topic from back then.
And I developed a concept that came out of the 2002 interview.
With the sub-theme of the transience of death. Who are we? What are we made of? And how can we see ourselves? I think today it's important to think beyond ourselves and also look at ourselves, what matters in life. And when we drop the covers, we are all just human beings after all.
That was an intention for the film.
