Shot during the COVID-19 lockdown in Italy, Messages From Quarantine explores the thoughts and fears of four different apartment complexes in Milan, relying out of necessity on drone footage and WhatsApp audio recordings.

Director Biography - Nikola Lorenzin, Niccolò Natali

Niccolò Natali was born in Pisa the 07/02/1989. In 2013 he graduated in Economics for Public Administrations and International Organizations at the Luigi Bocconi University in Milan. For the next three years he worked as a freelance consultant for De-Lab, a consultancy specialised in CSR projects. Parallel to this he learned filmmaking by self-taught. In 2016 he made the first documentary short film for VICE Portugal, "Onze Milhões". In 2017 he made the second documentary short together with Nikola Lorenzin, “Kuca”, presented at the 65 Martovski Film Festival. In the same year he directed the photography for the short 'Mia Sorella' by Saverio Cappiello, completed in 2019 and finalist at the David di Donatello awards 2020.

Nikola Lorenzin was born in Belgrade right before the dissolution of Ex-Jugoslavia. He completes studies in Renewable Energy Engineering between Pisa and London, and while working as an energy consultant in Madrid, he studies photography in the schools LENS and BlankPaper. In 2017, after participating in the film Summer School Filmidee, he produces and directs his first short movie Kuća together with Niccolò Natali, presenting it at the 65. Martovski Festival of Belgrade. In 2019 he directs the experimental short documentary Space Memories with Lucas Muñoz, which forms part of the wider project The Rocket Trail and which is in distribution.

They live and work in Milan where in 2018 they co-founded Santabelva, a collective of directors.
