Memórias de Pau-Preto e Marfim/Memories of Blackwood and Ivory

Based on testimonies and family archives, "Memórias de Pau-Preto e Marfim" seeks to recover stories of the dictatorship, the war, and the Portuguese colonial past, through the eyes of the "post-memory" generation. An animated docufiction short film that seeks to break and confront the silence about the past and to create non-hegemonic counter-narratives.

Director Biography - Inês Costa

Inês Costa has a master in Image Design (2022), with a bachelor in Communication Design (2020) from the Fine Arts of University of Porto. Winner of the FBAUP acquisition award (2020) and the Best Local Film award at the Vista Curta festival (2021). Her animation and video work was part of the official selection of festivals such as Curtas Vila do Conde, Vista Curta, Entre Olhares and Porto/Post/Doc in 2021. Her research project “Memories of Pau-Preto e Ivory”, was presented at the 2022 International Conference on Counter-Image, in Lisbon, with the support of FCT and ID+.
