When mental illness manifests itself in physical pain, a young woman's death wish comes true. Wandering in the pre-death antichamber, her soul encounters another dead one who already knows the rules of this toll house (from old German "Maut"). By activating echoes of physical senses they find her "skinsack" but the abandoned body is not ready to give up.

Director Statement

A personal story about illness and healing that I heard from my lead actress became a poetic movie with an eerie athmosphere.

The floating long shots and the otherworldly soundscape are designed to create a feeling of the soul being guided through disorienting circumstances towards the inevitable (not unlike in video games).
