Director Biography - Rome Mubarak

From Childhood Lens to Societal Scenes: A filmmaker's Journey

As a first-generation busing student in 1970s Los Angeles, I grew up in a vibrant but sheltered world—a stark contrast to the racial realities I'd soon discover. My true awakening began in college, after years spent blissfully unaware, happily developing photos in my backyard darkroom—a rare luxury for a kid on my block.

That early passion for photography naturally evolved into reel-to-reel, then video, cementing my lifelong mission: to capture society's complexities, its triumphs and struggles, through a sociological lens. This isn't just a career; it's my calling. I believe these unique perspectives, forged by a childhood spent observing and documenting, are essential for compelling storytelling that resonates with today’s audiences.

I've laid the groundwork; now, I'm seeking a visionary production partner to help bring these vital stories to the screen. Let's create something impactful together.

A New Voice for Nuance: Why "Matty's Mania" Now?
My generation came of age with "All in the Family" and "The Jeffersons," shows that, through their hilariously uncomfortable moments, fostered a genuine sense of tolerance and sparked vital conversations. They tackled society's raw nerves with humor, addressing issues that, tragically, have only grown more polarizing today.

We haven't seen a show like them since. Until now.

"Matty's Mania" revives that fearless spirit, diving headfirst into the contemporary landscape of race, microaggressions, and stereotypes. We're crafting a series that mirrors those cringe-worthy, yet ultimately enlightening, moments that made classics so thought-provoking. This isn't just entertainment; it's an urgent, comedic exploration designed to spark dialogue and understanding in a way only great television can. Join us in bringing back the kind of nuanced, bold storytelling that can truly move the needle.
