Born in 1993, in Athens, Greece. The first film he ever saw was Cutthroat Island (1995) which left a permanent mark of awe in his childish eyes. After countless little experiments with commercial video cameras of his age, he figured that the flame for filmmaking was lit inside him. Years had to go by, before he got in touch again with this passion, when in 2019 after watching Costa-Gavra's "Adults in the Room", he decided to join a film school in Athens and pursuit his long forgotten love. Ever since, he has embarked on the journey to tell stories of his worldview, through camera lenses.
I directed “Matter of Chemistry”, as a final project for my participation in filmschool.gr.
The idea came from how I felt and experienced the alteration of my career in the Navy.
See, I used to be a navy officer and dedicated a lot of time and effort to achieve that and adjust aspects of my character to fit in. After 9 hard years, I came to realize that I could no longer continue there, but quitting was far easier to think than do.
The main character in the film, Odysseus, has a similar experience and tries to reevaluate his choices and come to peace with his self.
I found the lead actor, Ioannis, through a long casting process. His performance in this film was spot on to how I reacted to things that pressured me, and an emotional journey for me to direct.
Until now, I feel grateful that the events in real life did not unfold as in the film. Creating this film helped me deal with the pain I experienced and express my esoteric agony and fears through art.
