Mårten Jansson - A Glimpse of Truth and Grief
Swedish composer Mårten Jansson is a renowned composer of music for choirs. In this film he is interviewed by Irish composer Michael McGlynn and discusses his inspirations and beginnings, his emotional connection to this most nebulous of art forms. The film includes beautiful performances by numerous vocal ensembles including internationally renowned vocal ensemble Voces8 and American poet Tony Silvestri.

Irish composer Michael McGlynn has been making long-form documentaries since 2008. His first effort, "Invocations of Ireland", was released on DVD on DV1 (Australia) and Columbia (Japan) and broadcast on Sky Arts TV.
His full length concert feature "ANÚNA : On a Cold Winter's Night" was broadcast on Sky Arts TV New Zealand and TG4 Ireland on Christmas Eve 2020, 21 & 22. It also appeared on SVT2 across the Nordic Countries December 2021 & 22. He has created numerous feature length music documentaries including "Songs of the Earth" (2021) for Tampere Vocal Music Festival and made shorts and promotional films for M’ANAM, ANÚNA and in 2021 Wexford Opera Festival commissioned the full length feature documentary "Momenti Musicali" featuring the cream of Irish opera soloists.
Michael's short films “Shadows of the Lowlands” and “Dreams of the Past, Memories of My Soul” were used to promote the release of the video games Xenoblade II (Nintendo 2018) and Chrono Cross : The Radical Dreamers Edition (Square Enix 2022).
The first of a series of short documentaries dealing with the very neglected area of composers and artistic inspiration.
