Marilyne Lamontagne (She/They) - Biography
Marilyne Lamontagne is a queer writer, director, producer born and raised in rural Quebec. She studied theatre and performance arts with a focus on physicality and performance in sexuality during her undergrad and graduate studies at UQAM in Montreal. Motivated by the desire to push the boundaries of our senses, she finds inspiration in creating work that is: “5 degrees to the left of reality” - the discomfort and cringy feeling of our distorted perceptions. Her recurring themes, rooted in her background and deep curiosity, such as the performativity of our bodies, complex identities, and emancipation, permeate her unconventional and unsettling storytelling. Part of Marilyne’s decade-long experience as an executive, producer, writer, and director includes dramaturg on the play kink (Montreal,2018), producer on The Deep season4 (2022), Ladybug and Cat Noir: The movie (2023), Everything Else (2023), and director on Heirloom(2023).
