Born and raised in Chile, Sofía Rodríguez is a filmmaker who first fell in love with making movies by filming funny sketches with her classmates and her dad's camera. She studied Communications and Film at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile where she persued her passion for writing and directing. After spending almost 10 years travelling regularly to Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and spending entire summers at her rapa-nui-godmother's house, the island became her second home. Then, she went on and wrote, produced and directed her short film debut called "Marahoro" (2024) to honor the island of Rapa Nui and it's community. With the script of Marahoro she was selected to participate at Aotearoa Script Lab (2018), the MapuLab (2020) and the 'Ohina Labs (2021). Marahoro premiered at Maoriland Film Festival (2024) and it has been travelling through film festivals while Sofía develops her next projects.
