Man in the crowd
Based on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, the movie is a modern fable of individuality and solitude in a 21st Century context. It retells Poe’s tale from the point of view of a writer whose daily newspaper-reading ritual in a cafe makes him reflect on urban alienation. His mysterious lover and a fellow customer take him on a journey through the streets of a labyrinthine, hyperreal city to his eventual discovery of the bizarre connection they share.
