Malignant Narcissism: Choreographic Research of the Brain
The short documentary film Malignant Narcissism: Choreographic Research of the Brain follows the interdisciplinary work of University of Tampa student, Elliot Daugherty (she/he). As a double major in dance and psychology, Elliot merges his two interests to create this live performance. Using five dance students, lighting, music and the stage as a medium, Elliot expresses how different parts of the brain interact when dealing with mental illness. At times, the dancers move in synchrony, but conflict arises as the two parts of the brain separate, fighting each other with sharp movements. Elliot's mentors weigh in on how this type of choreography is unique in the dance department.
