Nephan Baykal was born in Istanbul. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Letters. He then studied cinema and television broadcasting for two years. He participated in various programs on cinema. He won first place in the MTV film competition with his first film "Return Ticket". He later made the films Matryoshka, Pillow, Siren, Pencil, Pool, Memories and won various awards in national and international film festivals. The director, who lives in Istanbul, travels to Europe and America for his projects.
