Make Sure You Speak Up
Set against the backdrop of Indonesia’s recent turmoil, Arka, an ambitious young documentarian, sets out to create a social documentary. As he follows two contrasting young voices, an idealistic activist and a wealthy DJ who treats activism as image making, Arka becomes increasingly consumed by the blurred line between truth, performance, and exploitation in his pursuit of a powerful story.

Fazashan Putra is an Indonesian aspiring film director, producer, and screenwriter. Born in Jakarta, Putra developed an interest in filmmaking from a young age.
A student at the Jakarta Institute of Arts, Putra is known for Jakarta-set dramas about characters in search of validation or forgiveness.
Exploitation, in its many forms, is often normalized within the process of artistic creation. Through this film, I aim to explore the darker side of someone's ambition, how the desire to achieve something great can sometimes clash with the ideals they uphold. I am interested in examining the thin line between the urge to “speak about reality” and the temptation to “use reality” for personal gain.
