Josh Roque is a 3rd Year film student from CIIT College of Arts and Technology from Quezon City, Philippines. He has been pursuing his passion for film and videography since 2015, actively leading student productions for campus commercials, promotional
advertisements, and event coverage. As the current President of the student film org 24 Frames, he has produced the documentary “Magbukun” (Official Selection - Silip&Lente-AdU: Realifilm 2019) and narrative film “New” (Official Selection - Sine Siklab Film Festival 2019).
To encourage not only local indigenous tribes but also the general public on the significance of native literacy and cultural preservation is what the film "Magbukun" aspires to achieve.
Conceptualized by the director after reading on the recent development of the Philippines' first step on language revitalization, the film was produced at a period where globalization has reached even the depths of ethnic obscurities and interest on traditional customs has diminished gradually over time. Its purpose was to expose these realities that need to be addressed in order for societal groups to take action and contribute to this remarkable movement on enriching native dialects along with learning global languages before it's too late.
