Madam Driver
"Madam Driver" is a coming-of-age film centred on Devika Dixit, a 55-year-old woman from a small town in Gujarat, India, who defies societal norms by learning to drive. Despite facing deeply ingrained stereotypes, Devika bravely challenges her own beliefs and enlists the help of Hassan, a reluctant driving instructor. Through their journey of lessons, arguments, and unexpected challenges, Devika strives to overcome her fear of driving, while inspiring Hassan to reevaluate his own life choices. The story takes an unexpected turn when Devika, still lacking confidence in her driving skills, must assist Hassan's wife during a crucial moment. "Madam Driver" is a heartwarming story of overcoming loss, navigating grief, finding the courage to move forward, and the joy of reinventing oneself.

Director’s Note – Madam Driver
For generations, women have been labeled the “weaker sex”—a stereotype rooted in a long-standing and convenient narrative. Over time, this narrative has solidified into a powerful systemic force: patriarchy. It’s what allows phrases like “men will be men” and “women are bad drivers” to endure, often without question.
Madam Driver is a personal ode to the many women I’ve known—an intimate tribute to their quiet strength, resilience, and the everyday battles they fight, often unseen.
Set in a small-town Indian milieu, the film follows characters like Devika, Hassan, and Sakeena, who interact beyond the divides of religion or caste. Their relationships reflect the inclusive, pluralistic India I grew up in—where human connection took precedence over identity.
The film was shot on iPhone 15 Pro devices, embracing accessible technology and a documentary-style approach to tell a deeply personal, human story with cinematic authenticity.
