Nawras Juma is a highly skilled independent filmmaker based in Sweden with a passion for storytelling through the lens of a camera. His journey in the world of filmmaking began at a young age, earning invaluable experience from the tender age of 13. Since then, Nawras has honed his craft and developed a profound understanding of various camcorders and DSLR cameras, making him well-versed in the technical aspects of cinematography.
From the early days of capturing family events like weddings and birthday parties, Nawras's dedication to his craft never wavered. Even during the most challenging times, he remained steadfast, using his resilience and determination from his training as a boxer to fuel his filmmaking aspirations. Just as his coach once advised him to throw 10,000 punches to become a professional boxer, Nawras applied the same philosophy to his film practice, vowing to film tirelessly until he reached the pinnacle of becoming a skilled filmmaker.
Taking a pivotal step towards his dream, Nawras chose to relocate to the UK to pursue higher education in filmmaking at Brighton University. There, he immersed himself in the art and technique of filmmaking, earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in June 2018. Through his academic journey, Nawras gained comprehensive knowledge of the multifaceted roles within a film crew, nurturing the ability to think critically and act decisively while maintaining unwavering motivation.
Nawras's remarkable talent as a director came to fruition when he helmed an exceptional documentary centered around The West Pier in Brighton. This project marked his directorial debut, demonstrating his proficiency in both writing and producing captivating visual narratives. Nawras firmly believes that no creative vision is beyond reach, embracing each challenge with an unyielding determination to achieve the extraordinary.
