  • I was so excited to be selected as an award winner for MorArt film festival - through the entire process they stayed in communication with me, showed interest in not only my project but the process of making it and what inspired it, and it was an amazing experience to be apart of it!

While I am very grateful to have had my film featured in this festival and have won two awards, they are very disorganized and bad at communication.

For example, the festival created an Instagram story with quick blurb reviews of each film. The blurb called my film "hilarious." My film deals with heavy trauma, abandonment, mental illness, death, and the murder of George Floyd. It was a little strange to be called "hilarious," but I figured that maybe the blurb was part of a longer, more detailed review. I emailed the festival and asked, but was told that that blurb was the full review. My guess is it was written by someone who only watched the first few minutes of my film and had no idea what it was about.

I would rather have been given a review that actually said something of substance about the film that I could then use for promotional purposes, not just a superficial blurb.

There were other weird communication issues. When my film was accepted, I was immediately notified that it was a Finalist. I emailed and asked them which award it was a finalist for, and was just told "You'll get the info soon." I asked again the following week and was told the same thing, and was later told "You'll find out when the awards are announced." Eventually we won two awards, and I am grateful for that, but I was told the laurels would be sent out the following week. When I checked in with them again a week later, I was told they would be sent out in yet another week. I still have not received any laurels.

Overall, I think this festival is run by well-meaning, honest people, but they need to do a better job communicating with the filmmakers and being more transparent with their reviews and awards.

I really enjoyed being a part of this festival. They have a platform where all my friends and guests could watch the film. They gave great feedback and advertised my film like no other film festival has done as of today. I really appreciate the time and effort that was taken to ensure that I as a filmmaker was taken seriously and my work appreciated. Thank you so much!!!!

Totally enjoyed and understood this Festival. They were in touch with interviews and sharing info all through the process. Lots of contacts made through their work as people got to see my film. They love films - all kinds of films...I think because they love film-makers? They are film-makers themselves and this really shows. Well done - cos you worked hard to bring this in. Consistent communication and interest throughout - thanks.

  • Morart Creative Film Festival did a great job of publicizing the entries, the value was amazing, and this new festival ticks all of the boxes. It's been a great experience for us to grow as filmmakers along with this festival. We recommend this festival highly.
