MOLD
The person’s movements give the appearance of a struggle of someone trying to break out of a cubical structure. This structure freely transforms in shape and size and is more alive than the human. The cubical structure implies the social mold and invisible unreasonable social rules which oppress human freedom.

The main topic that I have been pursuing through my artistic practice is about the oppressed freedom caused by invisible, unreasonable rules and expectations given by society. The gender discrimination and frustration which I have observed and experienced closely in my culture and society as a female have been the most significant inspiration for my artistic interest and practice. When the power of the outside tries to control individuals with its unreasonable rules and makes individual’s unique features and creativity pointless, it is entirely up to human choice whether or not to give in to the injustice, to remain in egoistic self-preservation, or to resist against it. I have been interested specifically in human energy which shows the dynamism and resistance against these unreasonable control caused by given features such as gender and culture. I have recorded and animated human body gestures which express dynamic physical flowing and draw a positive human being who rises to challenge in the face of inherent limitations, rather than compromising with their surroundings.
