MOCAP Dog
In the surrealist comedy MOCAP Dog, Casey approaches his first real acting gig filled with nerves and naivety. He has been chosen to play the role of a dog owner in a heartwarming new family film. This is his long-awaited opportunity for success in his career…until his first day on set, when he discovers that his pet dog is played by a celebrity method actor in a motion capture suit. This extreme method actor truly believes he is a dog—an untrained dog—and Casey must learn to handle the barking, the marking, and the general mayhem caused by his costar to earn the respect he desires. To make matters worse, the crew will do anything to keep their star dog happy.

Henry Campbell is a recent graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design. Throughout his life as a storyteller, one goal has driven him above all others: to make people laugh. His goal is to take original ideas and tickle funny bones, creating worlds similar to ours but with a skewed reality.

After learning for the last four years about the film industry and
getting to meet the future of film in my classes, I couldn't help
but notice some of the strange things that we do in the name of
entertainment and business. I couldn't help but wonder about
the hierarchy of a film crew, the process of an actor, and all the
hard work that the audience doesn't see. All because we
want to tell stories. It's all very serious stuff.
But at the same time, it's all kind of funny, really. All this effort to make someone believe that what is on their screen is real. It's like when you were a kid, trying to imagine yourself flying as you looked out the side window of your family van. We try to make windows into the dreams of an audience. But we can also laugh at how far we take things in the film industry. Somebody completely method acting a role for the sake of the craft. And watching a crew and cast go along with it is an interesting dynamic to me. These are the topics I focused on in this film. I was very inspired by watching "Jim and Andy," the documentary about Jim Carrey method acting as Andy Kauffman for the film "Man on the Moon." It was so strange yet fascinating. How far do we let people go in the name of art? Do we wait until they are completely destructive? I wanted my film to evoke the same feelings. I wanted to poke fun at our industry and make people laugh while doing it.
