● Sumi lives with her paralyzed father. Her mother left the family with another man and married him when Sumi was just three years old.
● Sumi's father used to be a train driver, who had been paralyzed due to a train accident when she was in her 3rd year of bachelor's medical degree. She came back home to tend to her father. Presently teaching on a local school. Her father has been suffering from clinical depression for a while, now because he feels that he destroyed his daughter's life. She wasn't able to complete her academics and also, she isn't able to get married.
● Sumi’s father is under treatment of Dr. Sourav (Psychiatrist) who is her friend and he loves her since their time at college. Sourav knows everything about Sumi and there's a friendly camaraderie between them.
● One day Sumi comes to Sourav’s chamber for her father's appointment and meets a rich businessman, Ratan Babu. Ratan babu’s daughter is a psychiatric patient (rude, arrogant, undisciplined) who has tried to commit suicide many times and under treatment of Dr. Sourav for 3/4 years. During her stay at Sourav’s chamber, Sourav again proposed her for marriage but Sumi denied as she expressed her inability to leave her sick father. Sourav acknowledged her feelings and took assurance from Sumi that, when she is free from this responsibility, she'll have to accept his proposal, till that time he will wait for her. Sumi assured. Sourav told Sumi to accompany him to their professor’s house as it was pre-scheduled. Sumi accompanied him.
● After reaching there, they had a long medical discussion with their professor regarding present psychiatric problem due to various reasons. Professor concluded that, previously it was mainly because of loneliness but presently it’s mainly because of over expectation of parents from their child.
● AFTER 10 MONTHS :
● Sourav calls Sumi at night. After some normal discussion he informed her that, tomorrow is his birthday and asked for their marriage registration as his birthday gift. He also assured that she wouldn't have to leave her father or stay with him till her father’s death. Sumi agrees. (Song)
● Next morning, when Sumi was in bath, a call came on her phone, Sumi assumed it’s from her school and asked her father from bathroom to receive the call. It was a call from Sourav to remind her to reach marriage registration office in time with her ID’s, photo etc. Her father listened to it in silence.
● Sumi forgot to ask her father about the phone call. She got ready to leave. When she was leaving her father blessed her.
● After registration both of them spent some time in a park. From there Sourav went to his chamber and Sumi to her home.
● After reaching chamber Sourav saw Ratan Babu came to invite him at his daughter’s wedding, whose life was saved by Dr. Sourav.
● Another side, after reaching home Sumi saw her father is dead (committed suicide to give her release).
