Experiencing Interruptions?

MIRADOR Sound Immersive Exhibition

Around the world, many sounds are disappearing - the wind whispering the slowly sinking trees, the last standing indigenous instrument maker handcrafting bamboo mouth-harps; fishermen's traditional rake-shaking which filters large enough shells only, preserving young ones for the future.

World-class beatboxer SHOW-GO wanders northern Japan with special microphones and listens to those sounds - the sounds we may lose forever unless we take action. SHOW-GO then makes a musical session with those sounds.
MIRADOR is a cinematographic experience to invite young and casual audiences to immerse into the environment, and appreciate what we have on the Earth.

Why sound? I have three key reasons:
1. Slow traveling. In an era dominated by quick, photogenic snapshots for social media, MIRADOR offers a fresh perspective – an invitation to the younger generation, encouraging a pause, unwinding, and full immersion in the landscape.

2. Sound is a subtle yet powerful tool to convey messages. In the world full of documentaries about climate change or cultural diversity, they keep attracting the same audience eager to be educated while they don’t reach out to those less interested in too serious, too “woke” content. MIRADOR builds a bridge between casual viewers and vital issues, using sound and music to spark curiosity.

3. Move beyond Japan's clichés. For the audience who had enough of shrines, ramen, anime and Tokyo’s craziness, we unveil the off-the-beaten-track, showcasing the harmony between nature and humanity, the secret behind Japan's captivating scenery.
Join us for a journey as an ode to nature and beauty in Japanese’s hidden landscapes.
