Director Biography - Lorenzo Crescitelli

ENGLISH
Lorenzo Crescitelli was born in Avellino on January 1st, 1999.
He has always loved cinema and comic books.
He cultivated his interests from an early age, nourishing himself with all types of media.
Interested in both film theory and film-making, he graduated from the master's course "LIVRe. Linguaggi, Visioni e Interpretazioni del Reale” (LIVRe. Languages, Interpretations, and Visions of Reality) at the University Suor Orsola Benincasa of Naples with a thesis on mockumentary movies.
Since 2022 he has been a teaching assistant for the courses "Teorie e Tecniche del Linguaggio Cinematografico” (Theories and Techniques of Cinematographic Language) and "Cinematografia Documentaria” (Documentary Cinema) at the University Suor Orsola Benincasa of Naples.
In 2022 he directed and edited the backstage for the film "Roma Blues," which was produced by Rai Cinema.
In 2025, he wrote, directed, and edited the self-produced short film "Luoghi Comuni" (english title "Clichés").
He is a member of the association "Zia Lidia Social Club," which has been promoting film culture in Avellino for over twenty years by organizing screenings and meetings with filmmakers.

ITALIANO
Lorenzo Crescitelli nasce ad Avellino il 01 gennaio 1999.
Da sempre appassionato di cinema e fumetti coltiva sin da bambino le sue passioni nutrendosi di ogni tipo di media.
Interessato sia all'artigianato, che alla teoria del cinema, si laurea al corso magistrale "LIVRe. Linguaggi, Interpretazioni e Visioni del Reale" dell'università Suor Orsola Benincasa di Napoli con una tesi sul mockumentary.
Dal 2022 è assistente alla didattica per i corsi di "Teorie e Tecniche del Linguaggio Cinematografico" e "Cinematografia Documentaria" al Suor Orsola Benincasa di Napoli.
Nel 2022 realizza il backstage del film "Roma Blues", che vede Rai Cinema tra i produttori.
Nel 2025 scrive, dirige e monta il cortometraggio autoprodotto "Luoghi Comuni".
Fa parte del consiglio direttivo dell'associazione "Zia Lidia Social Club" che da oltre vent'anni promuove la cultura cinematografica nella città di Avellino organizzando proiezioni e incontri con autori.

Director Statement

ENGLISH
Clichés are recurring elements in cinema; they can dull the narrative, but at the same time, when reinterpreted in a metatextual way, they become an interesting starting point for reflection. With the short film "Luoghi Comuni" I wanted to play with horror clichés to inject freshness and new life into the genre.

ITALIANO
I cliché sono elementi ricorrenti nel cinema, possono appiattire la narrazione, ma allo stesso tempo, se riletti in chiave metatestuale, diventano uno spunto di riflessione interessante. Con il cortometraggio "Luoghi Comuni" ho voluto giocare con i cliché del genere horror per dare freschezza e nuova linfa al genere.
