Experiencing Interruptions?

Lueur

Lueur is a concise, emotionally charged two-minute short film that explores the quiet complexities of guilt and healing. A young woman sits beside her brother’s brokenness — not to fix him, but simply to stay. Set in the aftermath of addiction and regret, the film captures a raw, wordless connection where silence carries the weight of love, pain, and enduring hope. With minimal dialogue and evocative visuals, Lueur distills a powerful emotional journey into just two minutes, offering a fleeting yet resonant glimpse into the human condition.

Director Biography - Vishnu Udayan

I’m an Ad Filmmaker, Creative Director, and Advertising Consultant — combining emotion, craft, and brand strategy to create compelling visual narratives.

My journey began in Thiruvananthapuram, where I started making short films even before pursuing formal training. After completing my undergraduation in Chennai, I went on to study Film Direction at the Institute of Excellence by Balaji Telefilms, Mumbai, refining the skills I had already been practicing passionately.

Since 2012, I’ve been immersed in visual storytelling — directing 8 short films, 15 music videos, and numerous promotional projects. A defining moment in my early career was winning the SIIMA Award for Best Short Film in 2019. My short film Waft was screened and awarded in film festivals across Germany, Portugal, and the USA, gaining both critical and international acclaim.

My transition into advertising has been a natural evolution. I’ve now directed 7 Ad Films, worked as Creative Director on 2, and as Creative Producer on 1. I’ve also collaborated with Bash Mohammed (Prakashan) and assisted Dinesh Prabhakar in over 30 commercials — experiences that shaped my understanding of the craft and the business of advertising.

Beyond filmmaking, I run Green Parrot Talkies, where I also lead digital marketing and influencer campaigns, offering end-to-end brand communication strategies. As a self-taught advertising consultant, I help brands shape their identity, reach, and resonance — whether it’s for TV, web, or social media.

At heart, I believe great advertising is about telling the right story the right way — and I’m always looking to collaborate with brands and creatives who value that balance.

Lueur was born from a space I hadn’t visited in a while — a quiet place within, filled with unspoken guilt, memory, and the fragile hope that lingers in silence. I’ve always been drawn to stories that resist closure — where the emotions hang in the air, unresolved. With Lueur, I wanted to capture just a moment — nothing more, nothing less — and leave the rest to the audience.

The film ends without resolution, and that’s intentional. I believe storytelling isn’t always about answers — sometimes it’s about questions. I want my audience to pause, reflect, and sit with their own interpretations. What does healing look like? Is staying enough? Should we carry the guilt of someone else’s fall?

This is the kind of cinema I wish to create — emotionally honest, visually sparse, and narratively open. Films that don’t preach, but gently nudge you toward your own morals and perspective.
