Heather Magee is a Canadian independent filmmaker based in Venice, California. She recently completed her first film, The Shop Around the Corner, based on her award-winning short script. She also produced, directed and self-funded the project.

Writer Statement

This is my third feature-length screenplay, a nod to the timeless feel-good romantic comedies by Nancy Meyers and Richard Curtis, with a modern-day twist. In an era where the 24-hour news cycle is peppered with heavy headlines and amplified by world leaders projecting hateful sentiment, sometimes the stories that need to bubble up are the ones where everyday people are spreading compassion and kindness.
