Writer Statement

I wrote Love In the Windy City to highlight the lives of professional black women and men at the top of their game professionally, who like most of us have messy personal lives. It's hard to find love, and when you do, it's never easy. And the professional pitfalls of being in positions of power but taking risks and dealing with family dynamics, and complex characters, are not often seen on TV. This is the "talented tenth" makes Dr. Dubois applaud but also cringe because they are not perfect.
