Descriptive synopsis:
Lost in the Black Hole is an experimental short film. The maker and actor of this film, Salman Aziz has used symbolism to represent the various meanings of things as well as emotions of the universe through five different metaphoric characters.

The first metaphoric character is "The Hope" which represents optimism, ambition, desire, etc. The character also represents one of the five elements of this world, the sky! At the beginning of the film (0:26 min), the character is trying to raise from inside the very fine net. But, the net (represents different obstacles) is forcing the character to bow down (2:12 min). After several attempts to be free, the hope finally gives up (2:42 min) but at the same time, it gets the power to shine inside the net (2:57 min).

The second metaphoric character is "The Thorn" which represents strength, rage, inner power, etc. It also represents another important element, the fire. The character (face full of thorn) opens his eyes in the fire where a cyclone is happening on his forehead and a circle of fire is lifting up (0:48 min)! The split sun is giving the energy to the character to express his inner anger (1:03 min). Sometimes it raises and sometimes not! But at the end, the character again gets the power (2:33 min) where the sparkling pyramid symbolizes the growth of inner power.

The third metaphoric character is "The Nature" which represents the nature of this earth, softness, kindness, evergreen, purity, honesty, etc. The character also represents another element of the world, the air. The character shows up at 1:21 min. It is in the smoke and slowly closing the eyes. Light shows up which represents the inner eyes, but the light fades away in the black hole and turns into Saturn.

The fourth metaphoric character is "The Truth" which represents reality, justice, trust, faith, etc. It also represents the water. To represent this mythical character, ancient Egyptian language and symbols have been used. The vertically flipped pyramid on the character's forehead symbolizes the water, the eye of the Egyptian gods Horus and Ra symbolize power, and the symbol Ankh represents life/eternal life. The character has its own opposite power, but at the end "The Truth" gets tied by the rope (2:47 min).

The last metaphoric character is "The Spark" which represents conviction, self-reliance, shine into own power, genesis, etc. It also symbolizes another important element of nature, the earth. A mystical character is tied by rope and incarcerated inside an invisible jail. Here "The Spark" tries to come out and shine in freedom. But it loses hope when all the effort goes to vain (2:52 min).

The perspective of the film is multiple. It can be explained in different ways as per circumstances, dimensions, and meanings. Because the film contains lots of symbols that may hold various different meanings.

Director Statement

In mid-2017, I started the film all by myself with lots of hope in my mind. At that time the storyline was completely different from now. In 2018, I adopted the two most important characters in this film to make the film more meaningful. This film has taken more than 1.5 years to complete and in this whole journey, I have learned so many things which give me the power to show my inner self. This film has so many messages in different aspects. Each character represents a special message to society, the nation, the people, and the world. And this film is the first-ever symbolic cult horror short film in Bangladesh. Before me, nobody has made such kind of film. I have made this film with full respect for the art. Cause in my thought only art can make the film more beautiful. And, at the beginning of the year 2020, I put VFX to make an alternate version of it! The film got more meaningful after adding VFX.
