Bertrand Lissoir is a Belgian director… Well, half Austrian too… And it has to be said he grew up a few kilometres from the French border. Passionate about pictures, at 19 he enrolled at higher school of arts where he made incomprehensible videos to his parents’ great despair. He then went on to study film direction at the film school INSAS which did nothing to help reassure his family. Twenty years later, he has directed the short film Lost Rabbit. In the interim, he directed hundreds of TV programmes, video installations for theatre and dance, led photo and video workshops and assisted numerous directors, including Nicolas Guiot on The Lobster’s Cry which won a César and a Magritte award in 2013. Twenty years is both a long and a short time…
