Peter Kawa is a double award winning actor and one of the most prolific arts enthusiasts in the Kenyan entertainment Scene.
Among the notable projects Kawa has worked on is 'Lost In Time', his directorial feature film debut launching in October 2019, ‘Sumu La Penzi’, as Oscar, a pimp (Riverwood Awards Best Supporting Actor nominee - 2018), ‘FIHI’ where he acted as a rogue pastor (Riverwood Awards Best Actor - 2018) ‘Shattered’, a feature film which starred Nigerian actor, Rita Dominic, TRHK, Waliobaki, Tahamaki. Embraced, Scavengers, Mwalimu Maunguvesi, ‘Edufa’, a 2016 stage play, Necessary Madness among many others.
To cap it all, mentorship and discovering talent and introducing it to the industry is Kawa’s number one mission and passion. In his own words, “…I was given a chance by someone who believed in me to be who I am today, why not PASS IT ON…”
I am a firm believer in the tremendous power that the media has on any society whether for good or for bad.
Unfortunately, today's media has been one of the biggest manufacturers of a depressed/ dilapidated society with all manner of depressing headlines and unending sideshows.
Through my 15 year journey in professional arts' practice, I have always desired to take charge of the way film is used to shape my society for the better.
Through 'Lost In Time', as my first feature film as director, I seek to change the narrative that local film products are not daring enough to challenge the big budget films and yet still remain grounded on relevant stories that take place daily in our communities, and at the end of the day bring hope with positive messaging that will not only heal a generation, but also sour to greater international levels.
