Lost Heroes

In the Fascist Ethiopia, Giacinto fights against ghosts caused by a regime in which he doesn’t trust anymore. He’s forced to be witness of not heroic violence and reports one of his fellows. He’s a spy. This episode hurts him. Giacinto’s young wife, Maria, meets Raffaele, an employee at the village postal office, that has ambiguous behavior towards her. Giacinto is part of PAI, the Fascist police in African colonies. After the defeat in Ethiopia and some year of secrecy, Giacinto returns to Italy between PAI’s veterans, a unit loyal to the king. He become protagonist of a clamorous action, favored by Raffaele and Maria’s unclear relation. Clandestine operations, secret meetings and ideological discussions between a partisan and a fascist. They work together to liberation of some political prisoner. A night of 1944 is the cornerstone of the story: Giacinto makes seep some partisan between Fascist policemen and Nazi soldiers, remaining in the oblivion of heroes that the story will never unearth. War, colonization, migration. A mirror through the past and the present. This short film can shed light on historical shadows and on disenchantment of ideologies. How Lost Heroes can still be present?
