Los Tres Amigos

Three college students facing the typical daily struggle of college life are faced with depression due to the struggles of remote learning during the pandemic. They all showcase their frustrations as they feel alone due to being isolated in each other’s dorm rooms. The three decide to go to their favorite location on campus. They don’t know that the location is the favorite for all three to detox and escape from their stresses. Meeting at the location, the three see each other, one questions that they haven’t seen them before and says that this is his favorite place to be. The other two are shocked to hear as they both reveal that it is their favorite location on campus, too. The three see the connection and decide to meet at one table to chat and know each other. After hours of fun, they decide to go grab dinner together and it causes the beginning of a friendship bond.

Director Biography

Antonio Bocanegra II is a first-generation college student at the University of the Incarnate Word, majoring in Communication Arts with a concentration in Multimedia-Production and minoring in Photography.

Antonio is also certified as an Adobe Certified Professional in Video Design, Visual Design, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Illustrator.

Antonio has consistently been praised as a hard worker by his peers and teachers. He continues using his skills during his academic experience to support the mission and vision of Antonio's philosophy of always supporting everyone, no matter if they are a family member, a friend, or even a stranger, whenever tolerable possible within my abilities.

Director Statement

This short film aimed to showcase the awareness of college students' current state of mind due to the stresses of remote/hybrid learning, which has caused depression, and the importance of friendship. The short film has three different individuals who showcase different stages of depression/stress. As they don't know each other, they arrive unexpectedly at a central location on their campus. It is to showcase how randomly we can meet up with our peers across our lifetime and how we can create a friendship after a unique encounter while showcasing a bit of Hispanic influence in the short film.
