Marisa Martínez currently resides in Monterrey, Mexico. She is a student of Cinematography degree at the University of Monterrey since 2019. She has participated in the production of short films and audiovisual content at the student and professional levels; in positions mainly in the direction and production department.
Marisa debuts directing her first short film Los Ojos de Irina (2023), contributing as well as the co-creator of the story.
The short film “Through Her Eyes” is a student project made for a course in the bachelor's degree of Digital Film Production at the University of Monterrey. This experience allowed me to learn more about the process of directing and the different ways you can approach storytelling.
The story talks about the creative process of artists, and how they need reality to create "a real world" for a perfect story, taking inspiration from these real moments in life.
The short film was born from an idea that my professors have repeated lots of times: it’s vital to find inspiration from reality to be able to have verisimilitude in a story. Artists need to observe the world, to understand how people act and respond, so they can be able to portray it in fiction.
“Through Her Eyes” will always be special to me because it is my debut as a director. It was truly an incredible experience to be able to talk about a topic that is really interesting to me. To have the opportunity to work with talented people, and make bonds with the actresses, who gave life to these characters that made this story real.
