Director Statement

"Look at My Furniture" chronicles the mutant birth story of the unlikely song, "David Lynch Has a Painting Made of Flies Eyes," by a super-group calling itself the Silversun Vig-Ups. Much like the song in question, this film sproinged into existence as a result of keen observation (flies-eyes on the wall?), a mysterious creative impulse, and refracted memories.

Having a cameo in the band's video as the mariachi trumpet player, it felt like I was able to dive into the psyche of veteran rock producer Butch Vig, and flesh out some random hallucinogenic pages from his journal. These pages told the tale of his random and esoteric encounters with legendary auteur David Lynch, and were turbo-charged into reality by the encouragement of and subsequent collaboration with, his friends and co-conspirators, the Silversun Pickups.
