Dennis Cahlo began his life on Staten Island, or what most New Yorkers call "The Armpit Of New York.” Quickly realizing after 20 years of living there that he didn't fit in, Dennis moved to Manhattan in late 1999 and toured the world with his band The Realistics. They fought too much, drank just the same, never made it in the biz, and eventually broke up but not before leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.
Dennis then meandered for many years until he picked up photography which eventually became his main vocation and inevitably led to the moving image. In late 2015 Dennis made a quiet, low budget short film called "The Weekend" based on actual events that happened to him and it went on to win 35 awards and was accepted into 45 film festivals.
Seeing that this might be something he should continue to do, he followed up "The Weekend" with "Death (And Disco Fries)" a light heartfelt and touching romantic comedy that he wrote, directed, produced, and stars in. It is currently making the rounds on the festival circuit.
In 2019 Dennis completed his third short film "Lonely Hearts" starring former radio personality Bethany Watson. The film is currently in post production and due to hit festivals in 2020.
For my third short film, I wanted to present to the audience a slow burn under 30 minutes, turning the usual Giallo/Serial Killer genre on its head. Before passing this off as another run-of-the-mill “women as victims” slasher film, I encourage you to watch it to the end! I know it will leave you scratching your head and wanting to watch it one more time to see anything you may have missed.
